Week 8
Came to the house, noticed half the plaster boards are gone but there are no walls. I kept trying to find where the plaster boards have gone, took me a few minutes to realise that the ceiling has been done.
2 days later all the plaster has been put up.
The brick piers in the alfresco have been finished as well, cornice delivered. A lot of work has been done in one week.

Week 7
The bath frame has been put in but it's not the correct size. The opening for the bath is 145 cm in length and we paid for a 170 cm long bath so someone will have to fix that otherwise the spa bath won't fit and I don't want a smaller bath. The bricks are coming up nicely as well, we are pretty happy wight he colour of the brick and the off white mortar.
Insulation has also been put up and plaster sheets have been delivered. Everything is coming along pretty fast.

Waterproofing of the shower bases has been done as well as most of the electricity. We found a few issues that are not according to the contract (power outlet height) but hubby will deal with that. We have to run our own cabling for the security system before they start plastering. Had an independent inspector check out the frame stage and he didn't have much to complain about but then we realised that the height of the master bedroom door opening is not right. We paid for extra high doors and the opening is for a normal door. How did the inspector manage to miss that?

24/02/2014 (Week 3)
I received an Invoice for the slab on Friday saying the stage was complete so of course I had to go and have a look... guess what? the slab has not been poured so I wrote back and wasn't really nice about it...
Saturday about noon we were going to Bunnings so we decided to drop by and see if anything was happening and there sure was. Since there were a lot of workers on the site we decided not to stick around and come back on our way home.
By the time we went home this is what the site looked like...
I was really happy to know that they are working on a Saturday to keep up with the schedule.

Lets' get started...
12/02/2014 (Week 1)
I can't believe today is the day...
We had so many problems getting to this point that I didn't think it would ever come.
Settlement was scheduled for July 2013, then to August, then to September and it finally happened on October 18th 2013.
It was too late to be able to start building in October which was a requirement by Porter Davis to get this massive discount worth $10.000. Luckily even though our site transfer date was set for the 8th of November we were able to keep the discount.
On November 8th I get a call from my BC telling me we do not have a building permit due to the BAL assessment which came back at it's highest possible level Flame zone. I tried for weeks to figure out who can help out, the CFA, the local Council, HIA, VBA... whoever I called, no one had anything to do with it, as if BAL happens by itself and no one made it happen. The funny thing was that the house on our right has been there for probably a year now, built before the Bushfire prone area has been determined and the house on our left was in full construction with the BAL assessed to only 12,5, so how come we are 4 levels above that?
The solution was to get the grass behind the block cut and get it all reassessed. That happened in January which got us down to a BAL 29. We were not too happy with that and expected an additional cost of aprox $10.000 which we couldn't afford, Luckily it was around $3000 but we had to give up on our bi-fold window in the kitchen which was $2500 by itself so the expense wasn't that much.
